The 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, once again, makes a mid-way stop at RedBud in Buchanan, MI. Round 12 of six is sure to see one of the largest audiences this season. RedBud claims the largest attendance of any motocross race in America year after year.
The southwestern Michigan track is notorious for its massive tabletops and the infamous LaRocco's Leap, the largest jump in the series at 120 feet, named after Indiana-born legend Mike LaRocco, who became the first rider to ever complete the uphill triple. Mike LaRocco may have been the first to conquer the triple, but Ivan Tedesco has the momentum, coming off of a victory at Thunder Valley, to conquer the competition this weekend at RedBud. Also coming into the sixth round with some momentum are Honda Red Bull Racing rider Andrew Short and Canidae Motosport.com Kawasaki's Tommy Hahn. Racing at his home track this weekend, Nick Wey is looking forward to a good weekend, taking advantage of his familiarity with the track.
Coming into the race at RedBud this truly is anybody’s championship. Last week at Thunder Valley a pair of first-time winners proved that there is still room in the competition for improvement. And as the championship reaches its half way point the victories are not too little too late, but right on time.
